DEENA SAUNDERS-GREEN holds a BA in Human Services and an MSW (Master of Social Work) from California State University, San Bernardino. She was inducted into social work as an intern, providing therapy to teens in juvenile hall. She also served as a County social worker at a child protective services (CPS) agency in Southern California.

After grad school, Deena ventured into the world of non-profits where she assisted former foster youth in need of housing and aftercare services. Disturbed by the high rates of homelessness and lack of life skills among the youth, Deena resigned from her position as Aftercare Services Supervisor to become a full-time foster parent to teens. She also began to write about the challenges facing emancipated foster youth.
Deena's debut novel Angelique - A Transitional Age Youth Novel is a sobering account of one girl's life before, during, and after her time in foster care. It's a reminder that child abuse and neglect can impact any family at any time. It also shines a light on the devastating effects of substance abuse and addiction.

In June of 2018, Deena began working on a Master of Science in Social Entrepreneurship at USC in the Marshall School of Business. Her goal is to create a sustainable social enterprise that helps Transitional Age Youth, and their allies.

When Deena's not writing or studying, she's reading young adult novels, listening to podcasts, worshiping Jesus, spending time with her husband, and silently grieving the infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D.
